We direct bill all major insurance providers BUT...

Direct Billing does not necessarily mean the patient does not have to pay anything. Given that, 80% coverage per visit is the typical norm these days. 100% coverage is becoming more prevalent thankfully. However, occasionally some insurance coverages do not allow practitioners to billing the plan but require the patient to submit their own claim; in other words the patient has to pay upfront first by themselves. Please ask about your coverage first or send us your insurance info and we can check your coverage.

Question: How many treatments do I need?

Answer: Based on our clinical experience chronic patients require typically at least around 8-10 treatments for good clinical outcome, but skin conditions and fertility issues take longer. The same for other complex multi-organ issues. Treatments take time to work and assess so the bare minimum is usually 4 visits, which depending on how often you choose to come in at will vary anywhere from 1.5 weeks to 1 month. More complex problems such as those confirmed by modern medical blood tests and imaging scans may require up to 3 months to see any meaningful improvement or changes in biochemistry/imaging parameters (although this is not the aim of treatment but may often accompany self-reported improvements by patients)---approximately 1 month(3-4 visits) of treatment is typically necessary to at least establish a base line for whether continued treatment is warranted.

Question: Is there an 'assessment' or 'consultation' fee?

Answer: There is no separate 'assessment' or 'consultation' fee; they are all part of the treatment visit and included in the above fees already. There is also no stand-alone 'assessment' or 'consultation' visit; patients acknowledge that booking a visit means they are ready for treatment.

Question: How long do treatments take?

Answer: I practise a form of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine that incorporates traditional diagnostic techniques with modern medical assessment techniques and reasoning. The total visit time, from beginning to finish usually last from 1.5 to 2 hours. Please schedule your day accordingly to make time for treatment. Extremely complex problems, especially those where patients bring along their modern medical test results may take up to 2.5 hours.

Question: Are treatment fees based on the hour or the visit?

Answer: Fees are based on visit, not time taken to finish the treatment session.

All fees final.
